Defining your brows, even in the most subtle way, is an instant face-lift. Brows frame our face over-all and when defined correctly, highlights our facial features in the most flattering manner. On an everyday basis though, I would admit that defining my brows is the longest step in my makeup routine. That is until, I discovered this Shu Uemura’s Hard Pencil.

You Can Never Overdraw Your Brows!

The lead in this brow pencil is ‘hard’ which means for each stroke, it gives you high precision and control over the pigment that gets transferred to your brow. The wax in this pencil will only show up when it interacts with your brows’ or skin’s natural oils.

The effect? You can never overdraw your brows and it will never streak or crumble. The stiff consistency will leave you with natural but defined and consistent brow hairs.

TIP: It’s best to use this when you have not powdered your face yet.

You Will Feel Like a Pro Using This!

This brow pencil can be shaped like a sword, called officially the Niigata shape. All you need to do is visit your Shu Uemura store and any of the Beauty Consultants should be skilled to sharpen your Hard Pencil into a Niigata shape. The lead is sharpened flat so it resembles a sword; from the top, it is tapered to a flat angled tip. The angle of this pencil makes for a seamless deposit of color on your brows. If you’re one of those who second-guess themselves when shaping/shading your brows, you will feel like a pro using this.

Tip: If you prefer sharpening your pencil the conventional way (i.e. makeup pencil sharpener), that’s also possible.

Universally Flattering Shades!

The shades available are universally flattering. Particularly for Asian coloring, we typically look good with ashy tones. Their range of colors fall in between the grey’s and the brown’s in the color spectrum.

Tip: Seal Brown is their best-selling shade and I’ve seen it work for a lot of skin-tones and hair color.

Go on, Give it a Try!

With all the brow products saturating beauty counters, I am not satisfied with products that just does the job. I’m very critical with products I use and a lot of them just fall under “meets expectations”. Personally, the fanfare for this Hard Pencil deepened the moment I realized that there’s no other product I can use both sloppily and precisely and for both instances will yield naturally-defined, never stenciled-in brows.

Impressively first in this category and currently un-paralleled – let’s talk again when we find something better than this!
