In this Bobbi Brown makeup reviews article, I will share with you my favorite products from the Bobbi Brown line!

My beauty philosophy is undoubtedly carved out of Bobbi Brown’s own beauty mantra:

Makeup is a way for a Woman to look and feel like herself, only prettier and more confident.

Bobbi Brown

When I was younger and having the time of my life playing with makeup products and trends, it was also that time when I was still discovering who I was as a woman. I did not have a clear and strong grasp of my purpose and I tended to go where life took me.

As I matured, I became more self-aware and assured, my personal truths and convictions were clearer and stronger. I am blessed that at this point in my life, I recognize and affirm my own beauty, my value and worth. My whole stance on beauty and confidence reflects this personal journey.

Every single product I mention below speaks to a woman who does not want to be anyone but herself: A Pretty Powerful version of herself to be exact. I honestly can go further than 8 favorite products, but here goes the cream of the crop:

1. Vitamin Enriched Face Base

A lot of makeup feels like makeup on top of the skin. Silicone-based primers for instance, feel artificially perfect to touch. You do not get that from this primer-and-moisturizer-in-one formula enriched with Shea Butter. Whenever I lather this on my freshly-cleansed skin, it feels every bit of a fresh new day.

One of the benefits of this face base formula is its priming abilities. As the product absorbs to your skin, you will notice that applying foundation afterwards is a much smoother process. The primers formula also helps lengthen your makeup wear throughout the day. Did I forget to mention this is enriched with shea butter?! This makes for the perfect day moisturizer – light but potent. As it absorbs to your skin, you will notice how it wakes up your skin to look so healthy!

To be honest, I find myself just putting this on and nothing else: no tinted moisturizer, no foundation. If it’s a good skin day, I’d like nothing to cover my skin! This one plumps my face up and gives it just the perfect dew. Absolutely divine. A must-have! I cannot say enough good things about this.

2. EXTRA Eye Repair Cream

On your face, nothing gives away stress and old age, other than your under-eye. That delicate small area is prone to lines, puffiness and dark circles. Even before you whip out your trusty concealer to correct imperfections, remember that your under-eye needs dedicated nourishment.

I use this rich concentrated cream both day and night, applying it not only on my under-eye, but also on the sides of my eye (while saying a silent prayer that I hope to not get premature crow’s feet!).

To apply, simply get a swab on each of your ring fingers, rub your fingers together to warm up the cream then gently pat on your under-eye. You will notice that the cream leaves your under eye feeling moisturized and slightly tacky as it absorbs completely. This tacky feeling is what you want, it will be the perfect base for topping with your concealer.

The key to a good under-eye cream that goes under concealer is one that is creamy, absorbed easily and slightly tacky. If the formula is too creamy and wet, your concealer will just slip and slide. It should dry down slightly tacky so that your concealer will grab on to it and stick. When you conceal without moisturizing, your under-eye looks crusty like a croissant. You may have gotten away with it while you were young, but once you hit your 30’s, trust me, you need to prime your under-eye before concealer.

3. Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF 40

When this Intensive Skin Serum Foundation was launched, it ticked all the boxes of what I was looking for in an everyday foundation:

  • Lightweight
  • Hydrating
  • Has SPF
  • Bonus – It’s actually skincare infused with tone-correcting pigment!

This product is recommended for normal-to-dry skin, but I have combination skin, yet I still love this till it’s very last drop. If you have oily skin, you may want to veer away as it may give you an oilier look. If you have combination skin like me, make sure to set your t-zone with powder after applying this.

There are 3 things you will love about this product:

  1. You can apply it using your fingers – you simply massage it to your face as you would any skincare product
  2. It doesn’t feel like you’re applying a layer of mask –  don’t you hate it when everyday foundations feel heavy on the skin
  3. Your skin looks moisturized as the day goes by!

Having this serum infused with SPF 40 is an added bonus. You can literally put on this one product and head out to the door on days when you are really in a hurry.

When using this serum, you will need to shake the bottle well before dispensing the product to make sure the ingredients (serum and pigments) are mixed together. Most people may gripe about the messy dropper dispensing mechanism, but this has already been replaced with an easier to use pump in its latest release!

4. Corrector

You’ll know you need a corrector when concealer alone does not cancel out the darkness on your under-eye. I wrote about this must have corrector extensively in this article here.

The Bobbi Brown Under Eye Corrector has been my ride-or-die corrector for years. It is available in a wide range of pink (bisque) to peach (salmon) shades, so you can cancel the range of bluish to purple discoloration.

You’ll want to use this with a light-hand, picking up product, warming it up on the back of your hand and then applying it on your under-eye, targeting specifically where it is darkest. With a wide range of shades, your sure to cancel any discoloration in one go. On most days, you should be able to get by with just one corrector alone. For those special occasions, I recommend you apply concealer on top of the corrector for that extra boost of brightness on your under-eye.

If there’s one product that causes me to panic when I run out of it, this would be it. Out of everything in this list, this is my absolute #1 must-have in Bobbi Brown.

5. Sheer Finish Loose Powder

My #1 makeup pet peeve is looking like a beignet – i.e. powdered to perfection. The irony and the high standards I hold powders against: wearing powder without looking like you have powdered your skin. Most ladies need powder to set their makeup in place (those with dry skin can skip or can apply sparingly). Since I have combination skin, I apply powder focusing mostly on my hot spots (my T-zone which tends to get oily throughout the day). I love Bobbi Browns Sheer-Finish Loose Powder for 2 basic things that it delivers – (a) oil control, (b) a soft focus finish.

I always set my makeup base because, by midday, I will have oil peeking thru and breaking down my makeup. If you have oily/combination skin like me, you will love using this loose powder. When applying this loose powder, you will be able to remove the oils that breaks through the day and keep your makeup looking fresh for longer. This powder leaves your skin looking natural (with a bit of dew) and sets your makeup without removing the over-all luminosity of the skin.

To that point, I am not a fan of powder foundations because they tend to look heavier on the skin with the fuller coverage it provides. For everyday and even for special occasions, you will love this sheer finish loose powder because it looks completely undetectable on the skin. This powder has a soft yellow undertone, giving the under-eye an extra brightening boost.

6. Pot Rouge for Cheeks & Lips

This multi-tasking cream color compact is an on-the-go girl’s dream product. First off, who wouldn’t want a 2-in-1. This creamy formula blends easily on top of either a bare face or after applying foundation. Personally, I like products that blend easily with fingers. If I can apply and blend using my fingers, that’s a winner for me. I do not like over-complicating my life, much less my beauty routine, and I’m sure neither would you!

This has a nice natural finish that gives you just the perfect wash of color. If you are into the no makeup look like, this product is a must-have for you. Pot Rouge comes in only 6 universally flattering shades and I’m confident that whatever skin tone you have, you’ll find a shade that looks like a natural flush on you, that look you get when you exercised and blood rushes to your face. While the formula is buildable (you can intensify the shade), do not pile too much of it; at some point it will get too tacky.

Tip: Pick up the product from the pot and blend it first at the back of your hand to ensure you have an even layer before blotting the product on your cheeks.

7. Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

I know a lot of women who feel naked without eye liner; I’m not one of them because I prefer highlighting my other assets. But when I became a professional makeup artist, I just couldn’t do a makeup look without defining my client’s eyes.

This long wearing gel eyeliner has topped various “best of the best” lists because of it’s ease-of-use, specifically how this formula glides so easily on the delicate eye area. I have this in the shade “Black Ink” and it’s the blackest of black. I’ve played with the other shades and found them highly pigmented too.

You will love this gel eyeliner because it is very vibrant and will make your eyes stand out. When I applied this on one of my client’s eyes, their eyes stood out like no other! It is a great way to put focus on your eyes. Another benefit of this liner is its formula – I am happy to share that it is non-irritating and smudge-proof, something you definitely need given the eye area is prone to being sensitive and wet.

Tip: I always set ANY gel liner with eye shadow to make sure it doesn’t go anywhere. You can set it precisely or by smudging the product. Either way, this gel liner will stay until you’re ready to wash it off.

8. Luxe Lip Color

As with skin, which I prefer dewy over matte, I prefer my lips to be plump/hydrated over matte. What can I say, I value comfort when I wear makeup every day. Would you find it weird that I do not have anything negative to say about this lip color?

Bobbi Browns Luxe Lip Color has excellent pigmentation – 1 swipe and the color envelopes your lips fully, without feathering or bleeding. You will love this lipstick because it glides on like butter and feels lightweight on the lips. The formula is rich and creamy, leaving a natural sheen on the lips. It doesn’t sink on your lips’ fine lines because the formula seems to glide smoothly on top. This product also has decent wear time. Let’s be honest, I do not expect this to be budge-proof like a liquid lipstick. However, when it rubs off, you are left with a beautiful stain.

You have 38 shades to choose from and I have no doubt you’ll find your perfect ‘nude’ shade, your sassy pick-me-up shade or your bold red shade. The rich color formula truly makes this lipstick luxurious.

And That’s my Top 8!

My beauty philosophy of “Beautiful is Basic” stands for effortless but impactful beauty. Bobbi Brown is one of the few mainstream brands who embody and stand by this. I hope you find your own favorites in this line as I have!

  1. I guess I am going to become an avid fan of Bobbi brown’s products after reading through these favorites of yours.
My makeup kit is a mix of Smashbox ( for my foundation, primer, powder), lancome (for my lip color, make-up removal, mascara), but now that its time to revamp I am confused as to which brand/s to go for.
After reading through your other review on the intensive skin serum foundation, I already thought I will be going for that. But now that I have read your top products from the brand, I’m thinking, I should just go all in and make my kit Bobbi’s line. not a bad idea right!
n this list, iI especially love the Pot rouge for cheeks & lips, face base, eye repair cream, & of course the skin serum foundation.

    1. Hey Tohin, Come back and tell me after you’ve purchased and let’s share our love of Bobbi Brown!! You listed my top top fave out of everything! Face base, eye cream, foundation and pot rouge are my definite faves!! xx, Bev
